July/August + Travel Favourites Part 1 - Makeup For Eyes and Face

As mentioned in my previous post, I recently went to the lovely city of Melbourne on holiday. :-) So, I thought I'd share with you the beauty items I took with me and loved using. These are pretty much the same items that I've favoured over July through to the beginning of August, too.  I'll start with my makeup favourites for the face and eyes...

Hope you enjoy!
  1. Becca Boudoir Skin Mineral Powder in 'Dream': I've hit pan on this!  It's my fave mineral powder ever.  I like to use this all over the face lightly to cover other areas that I haven't applied the Chanel cream foundation (2) and also to set the cream foundation. (Full review HERE).
  2. Chanel Teint Innocence Compact in '50 Naturel Intensity 4.5':  I bought this foundation some time last year(!) and I'm glad I finally got around to using it.  Initially, I thought this shade would be too dark for me, but it's actually pretty good and doesn't look muddy at all.  It's certainly luminous and natural looking as claimed.  It feels moisturising and stays on all day on my combination skin (noting of course I always set it with powder).  I love the convenience of the compact (with mirror) and sponge applicator (despite needing to keep the sponge clean frequently) for on-the-go touch-ups and application.  This cream foundation gives medium to full coverage, and is not as messy as liquid foundations can be!  I mainly use this just in the areas I need such as around the nose, around any dark areas of the eyes, around the mouth and chin, and on the sides of my face where I have some dark spots left from previous break out.  Sadly, this foundation range has been discontinued, just when I've been so attached to it. I've just hit pan on it, too! :'(  Hopefully, the new Vitalumiere Aqua Cream Compact will be just as good if not better.
  3. Burberry Sheer Summer Glow Natural Highlighting Compact: Gorgeous multi-tasking palette.  Instantly gives a warm, healthy glow to the face.  Love using this as a contour and highlighter.  If I'm in a rush and don't have time to put eye shadow on, I like using the highlighter on my eye lids (even with just my finger tip!  It's so smooth and easy to blend!). (See full review HERE).
  4. By Terry Rose de Rose Sheer Liquid Blush in 'Fresh Rose' (#1): This blush has featured in a few 'my fave' posts already and was one of my top products of 2011! ^_^  I love the rose scent (not grandma-like at all!), and it's one of my go-to blushes if I want to look healthy, fresh and glowing.  I pretty much always take this with me on holiday, too.
  5. Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in 'Dark Sable' (No.23):  This is a fantastic new medium to dark brown matte shade from the Burberry Beauty Fall 2012 collection.  LOVE.  (See full review HERE).
  6. Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in 'Midnight Brown' (No.21):  Another one of my fave / staple Burberry eye shadows.  An intense neutral with a subtle sheen that's wearable for day and easily intensified for a warm, smokey brown eye look for the evening.  You can mix this with Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base to really intensify it!  (See a swatch of this compared with 'Dark Sable' HERE).
  7. Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in 'Trench' (No.02):  This is my go-to, current all-time fave base powder eye shadow.  I've hit pan on it!  ^_^  (See full review HERE).
  8. Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Rose Initiale': latest blush from the Chanel Fall 2012 Collection.  I'd describe it as a perfect peach pink. ;-)  Been wearing this almost everyday since I got it.  LOVE this. <3

  1. MAC Prep + Prime Beauty Balm (BB) SPF 35:  I've only ever tried 2 BB creams and this one is my fave of the two (the other is from Garnier).  Just love the way it evens out my skin tone as well as giving me sun protection.  I love using this all over the face (avoiding the eyes due to the SPF).  Convenient for travel and going on holiday with particularly to hot and humid areas where you can't wear a lot of makeup.  However, I've been using this most days even when not on holiday and just applying it as a base to even out my skin tone and only putting on foundation sparingly in areas that need it.
  2. Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder in 'Doré' (#40):  This is a great setting (loose) powder that gives you a flawless and polished finish.  Can't go wrong with this.  I like to dispense a small amount in a plastic container that comes with a sifter as it's more convenient to travel with.
  3. By Terry Touche Veloutee in 'Beige' (#3):  My fave under-eye concealer/highlighter.  It's the perfect shade and consistency for me.  Much needed while travelling, particularly when I've just caught the red-eye flight!
  4. Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara in Black:  Just tried this recently and even though it didn't quite give me more of a 'wow' BIG lash effect that I expected, it still gives a fairly good definition that still looks natural and I love the way it does not clump at all.  All the lashes are perfectly separated and evenly coated.  Great for everyday. :)
  5. Chanel Sublime de Chanel Mascara in Deep Black (10):  I've used up this sample I got and I absolutely LOVED it!  I must admit, I tried it before and immediately stopped using it as I did not like the plastic bristled brush applicator at all!  I even managed to scratch my eye with it the first time!  >_<  However...I picked it up again and for some reason, I have LOVED using it every single time.  It gave the best volume and length to my lashes, and maintained the curl (I initially create with an eye lash curler) all day.  It's been the most effective mascara in terms of giving me that 'wow' factor without clumping and making them too false-looking.  I actually look forward to using it everyday, *and* it makes me smile when I put it on!  I don't think a mascara has ever had that effect on me before - honestly.  (Ah-mazing!)  I despise taking off mascaras that don't have the tube technology coz it's messy, but I must say, this one is definitely worth the trouble. :-)  I will definitely repurchase the full-size version in future!  (I just have too many new mascaras I still have to use first!). /:-\
  6. Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil in 'Brunette': a staple item of mine that I will continue to repurchase as long as it exists!  Hands down, the best, natural looking eye brown pencil I've tried.  (This, too was featured on my top 2011 products).
  7. Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Rose Platine (47): A gorgeous unique shade of platinum with a hint of rose.  Love putting this on the bottom waterline and it's budge-proof.  (This was a limited edition from last year's summer collection).
  8. Le Metier De Beaute Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack:  My current go-to brown eye liner mainly for along the lash line rather than the waterline.  (This is also gorgeous to apply all over the lid and blend it out with the finger).  I love the very pretty shimmery warm brown shade and the soft (but not too soft) consistency of it.

Stay tuned for my July/August + Travel Favourites - Lips, Skincare and Tools (if you're keen that is)!

Thanks for visiting. xo ^_^
